CUPID'S HEARTBEAT

1. How can you characterize the sound of 'Cupid's Heartbeat'? What inspirations shaped the lyrics and storytelling within the music?

‘Cupid’s Heartbeat’ is an EP that’ll take you on a journey through the highs and lows that comes with how to navigate the complex emotion called love while dealing with mental health battles. Each song on this EP has a different view of how vulnerable this emotion can make you feel. For example, ‘Cupid’s Heartbeat’ embodies the intense and infatuated side of love, where ‘Graveyard of Stars’ depicts what it is like when your love is taken from you, suddenly, whether that be through a break up, or passing on, it leaves the listener to create their own narrative. Siren Call alludes to a confident, lustful lover, whereas ‘Borderline’ portrays the feeling of hurt towards someone who made a promise to love you, that you knew they’d never keep. In conclusion, navigating love regardless if you deal with mental health or not is a journey in itself that I wanted this EP to portray.

2. How did your musical journey introduce you to Universal Production Music?

I moved from America to London in order to pursue my dreams of becoming an artist. Coming to the University of Westminster created the beautiful opportunity for me to tour around Universal Productions Studio, which then gave me the possibility to work under Universals label for this upcoming EP.

3. Did you experience any challenges when writing Cupid’s Heartbeat which shaped the end result in a way you had not intended?

As someone who consistently changes their mind, I’d have to say my hardest challenge was myself. Being an upcoming artist, the strive for making a perfect EP, yet alone, my first EP, created an immense amount of pressure. I had so many intentions that I wanted with this EP, in the beginning , however, that later changed as the journey went on.

4. What have been your biggest sources of support breaking into the industry as a young artist?

My loved ones have always been my biggest supporters throughout this whole journey, and now, I can confidently say that Universals Production team has helped me greatly throughout this whole process. Having individuals that truly care about not only the music, but the artist as well, has truthfully made an impacting difference throughout this whole journey.

5. What would be your dream sync with this EP?

My dream sync would definitely be having any of my tracks on the big screen. Whether it be Netflix, or in movies, my tracks are very cinematic, which I believe, would work perfectly for scenes that require a track that provides a lot of depth.

6. Have you got any future projects in the pipeline?

As of right now, my goal is to further my journey with Universal as a composer in order to get the most out of this beautiful opportunity that many artists don’t get the chance to have. I am forever grateful for this door that Universal has opened for me, and look forward to what comes next.
