This Women's History Month, we are celebrating three years since the launch of Universal Production Music's 100% HER mentorship scheme.
Originally launched in 2019, the 100% HER initiative set out to increase gender diversity, inclusion and representation within production music. Since partnering with She Said So and She Is The Music, Universal Production Music has released a series of albums created by female writers, producers, and mixing/mastering engineers, which have garnered industry-wide success.
In 2023,100% HER launched a mentorship scheme that matched female composers with experienced mentors to provide long-term development and career opportunities. Since then, the initiative has gone global, expanding from the UK into South Africa, Germany, France, the Nordics, APAC, the United States and Latin America.
As a result, we have now seen over 800 new female composers on Universal Production Music's roster. In collaboration with She Is The Music, 100% HER has gained international recognition from organisations such as The Ivors Academy, WACL, and She Said So. 100% HER has also been nominated multiple times for Music Week's Women in Music DE&I Initiative of the Year award.
But the journey doesn't end here. We are committed to continuing our support of women across the world, to increase visibility, provide long-term career opportunities and build a catalogue that truly represents the richness and diversity of the world we soundtrack.
Watch below to hear from some of the talented women who have developed their music careers and made connections through the launchpad of the 100% HER initiative.
Together, we are shaping the world of music.
